Performance Test of CBR(Chemical, Biological, Radiological) Protection Filtration Facility

Verification of CBR Protection Filtration Facility

CBR protection filtration facilities must maintain positive pressure and require a filtration system because there must be no inflow of contaminated external air to ensure residence for the survival people.

Since the filtration system must supply air that is completely filtered from pollutants, it is necessary to verify the performance of the HVAC system by an independent and authorized testing agency and verify the inflow leakage.

1. Test Items
– HEPA filter performance test
– Absorber filter performance test
– On-site leak test of filtration equipment
– Positive pressure performance test
– Inflow leakage measuring test
2. HEPA filter performance test
According to MIL-STD-282, 0.3㎛ monodisperse DOP aerosol is produced using Q-107 test equipment to measure DOP leakage and differential pressure of HEPA filter at the test rated flow rate, confirming that the minimum collection efficiency of 0.3㎛ monodisperse DOP aerosol particles at the rated flow rate is 99.97% or higher.
3. Performance Test of Absorber Filter Unit
After filling with an adsorbent with confirmed adsorption performance, This is a test to confirm that the concentration downstream of the adsorber filter do not exceed 0.0005 times the concentration upstream of the adsorber filter when tested with R-11 tracer gas in accordance with ASME N510 and MIL-PRF-32016 (EA)
4. On-site leak test of filtration equipment
This is an on-site leak test for filtration equipment equipped with a HEPA filter or adsorber filter unit and must be performed by an independent, accredited testing laboratory.

– On-site Leak Test of HEPA Filter Purification System

less than 0.05% of challenge aerosols at ± 10% of rated flow rate

On-site leakage test of adsorbent filter unit: Test cycle less than 0.05% of tracking gas at ± 10% of rated flow rate: Every 12 months at the time of initial installation,
When the static pressure management standard of the filter unit is exceeded

Absorber filter unit site leakage test

± 10% of rated flow rate and less than 0.05% of tracking gas

– Test cycle
At the time of initial installation or every 12 months, If the static pressure management standard of the filter unit is exceeded

5. Positive pressure performance test
This is a test method that measures the differential pressure in all areas sufficient to maintain positive pressure (75 Pa) in all adjacent areas.
6. In-flow Leakage Measuring Test (Habitability Test)
In chemical, biological and radiological group protection facilities, the performance of HVAC and filtration systems must be confirmed to protect people for a sufficient period of time to allow them to evacuate from contaminated air that occurs during wartime attacks, terrorist attacks, and industrial accidents, and that contaminated air must be checked inside the protective facility. Additionally, the total amount of leakage flowing into the building must be evaluated to ensure that it satisfies relevant legal standards.
